An interactive art and HCI project designed to help people feel connected to loved ones from a distance. Our Flower uses two artificial flowers embedded with microcontrollers, LEDs, and a voice recognition module. When one user speaks endearing phrases like “I love you” or “I miss you” into a flower, the paired flower lights up and plays a soft tune, symbolizing emotional presence across distance.
My contributions included:
Researched and wrote sections of the final report connecting the project to HCI and tangible interaction literature.
Contributed to the design and development process, focusing on how technology can emulate emotional closeness during the pandemic.
Assisted in building prototypes using Worbla thermoplastic, Arduino Uno WiFi Rev2, and voice recognition modules.
Participated in user testing and evaluation, gathering insights from participants to refine interactivity and usability.
